Calypso celebration during the Vinci-Mas

SVGThe St. Vincent and the Grenadines carnival is popularly referred to as Vinci-Mas. This is the time when people of the faith are cleansed out of their sins. It is a period of fasting and abstinence. The religious stripped themselves off the human wants and sacrifice to join in the passion and death of Christ. This is also the time that signifies the near start of the Lenten season.

By the 1900, the Calypso celebration during the Vinci-Mas was introduced. Street parades were made popular among the working class. Today, more and more people are joining in this festival of faith and the crowds are growing bigger every year.
